For One Month Only
Journo sells off clothing collection
Anyone who has a passion for fashion needs to master space management, expecially if like journo Tom Bottomley, you live in central London. After years of letting his global collection of designer discoveries encroach on the lives of various tolerant friends and rellies, Tom has decided to sell off his togs.
The former Portobello stall-holder who co-wrote Gola, A Century of Sporting Fashion reckons he's "driven my mum, nan and ex-partner mad for years with all my bin bags full of gear, so I'm clearing the deck - and most of their storage space!" The For One Month only shop opened on Tuesday September 6 at 8 Newburgh Street with prices ranging from £10-£750 for pieces including a selection of vintage waistcoats (Oh, soo Kate Moss), a US Air Force 1940s leather jacket identical to the one worn by Steve McQueen in The Great Escape and lots of one-off samples and his personal collection of vintage pieces from both the UK and US.
Head over next week when Tom will add old Pea coats and checked hunting jackets and don't forget to have a chat with him - he'll be able to tell you the individual history of each garment whether it's been blagged, begged for or bought.
- For One Month Only open until October 6 2005, 8 Newburgh Street, W1 open Tuesday - Saturday 10.30am - 6pm.
