Jess Noy wins £20,000

Battersea Park was awash with fashion stars on Wednesday evening for the Graduate Fashion Week Gala performance. Hosts June Sarpong and Steve Jones kept the audience well entertained - especially Steve whose backstage fashion commentary ("I sense blueness") and gallant reading of Mary Quant's autocue (she stepped in to present the textile Award for Zandra Rhodes, but couldn't read the words on the screen ) were compelling.

Despite tense anticipation, the atmosphere was truly electric when The River Island Gold Award winner, Jess Noy from UWE Bristol, was announced. Jess scoops a handsome cash prize of £20,000 to help her establish her own business and, along with all the other 2005 winners, receives a year's worth of support from the GFW Mentoring Panel.

Other winners include Alexa Davies from Winchester for Best Use of Colour, Elliot Atkinson from Edinburgh College of Art for Fashion Illustration, while Kerrie Scott from Northampton won the Zandra Rhodes Catwalk Textile Award and Ravensbourne bagged the Stand Design Award.
