Before you slap on some WWII medals and customise a RAF jacket, be aware that just because the military look has been deemed 'cool' by the likes of Prada, it doesn't mean all its symbols are inoffensive. Last month i-D published a fashion shoot by Corrine Day featuring an old German army jacket complete with an embroidered swastika. i-D has since issued an unreserved apology saying that "this image should not have been published". And back in February 2000 when the Gattinoni show featured a skirt emblazoned with an image of Austria's far-right Joerg Haider, 'no' in red text and a swastika, some onlookers were appalled.
