Andy's motorsFamous for screen prints of celebs including Marilyn Monroe, Joan Collins, Jackie Onassis and Chairman Mao, one of Andy Warhol's last commissions was a series of car paintings for Mercedes-Benz. Warhol began the car series in the mid-80s when 20 models of Mercedes - from the 1886 Daimler Motor Carriage to 1980s models - were chosen to document its history. At the time of Warhol's death in 1987, 36 of the 80 planned paintings were finished and 28 of these, all featuring the artist's trademark style of replicating images in multiples, will be displayed, for the first time in the UK.
