Mother's cupboards

After photographer John Miles' mother died, he began chronicling the contents of her life. John's mother lived in the same suburban house for 60 years and never binned anything out. The exhibition, A Stitch in Time: In Memory of My Mother Who Fortunately Never Threw Anything Away, reveals everything from the contents of her kitchen draws and long discarded bags to ancient invitations and ornaments. This obsessive collection of objects uncovers not only John's mother's life but also that of the rest of his family and portrays a world of memories, secrets and forgotten moments.
