In vogueWhen photographer John Rawlings died in 1970, his personal archive was put into storage. Recently his fashion photos and advertising work have been condensed into Kohle Yohannan's John Rawlings: 30 Years in Vogue. Hired as an apprentice photographer's assistant at Conde Nast in 1936, Rawlings worked with and was inspired by many of fashion's most famous lensmen including George Hoyningen-Huene, Horst P Horst and Irving Penn. During the 40s and 50s, he snapped celebs including Joan Crawford, Marlene Dietrich, the Duchess of Windsor and Montgomery Clift and over 200 US Vogue and Glamour magazine covers are to his credit.
