Glowing gearLoads of things glow in the dark including paints, toys and nail lacquers, but soon fabrics will be illuminous too thanks to experts at St Andrews University. Scientists at the UK institute have discovered plastics which can emit light and suggested uses for the new material include clothing and wallpaper which will vary in brightness to suit its user's mood. It's still early days for the research so if you can't wait for glow in the dark togs, you can customise yours with illuminous paint, which is available from most DIY stores.
