Private WestwoodIn celebration of one of Britain's most important post-war designers, an exhibition devoted to Vivienne Westwood's work, Vivienne Westwood: the collection of Romilly McAlpine, opens next month at the Liverpool Museum. The private collection of Vivienne's clothes, built up by politician's wife Lady McAlpine, includes a diamanté encrusted codpiece corset and a dramatic black dress worn by Lady McAlpine to the State Opening of Parliament in 1994. One of Viv's most high profile and significant patrons, Lady McAlpine began wearing her clothes to public events in 1986 and the exhibition features the sizeable Westwood wardrobe she has amassed since then.
