Curious exhibits

Inspired by the last 600 years of aristocratic fashion and using antique fabrics such as silks, leathers and lace, artist Serena Partridge creates handmade miniature accessories. In her exhibition, Cabinets of Curiosity, all items - including elongated stockings, fantasy leather boots and frivolous wigs - are presented in glass cases accompanied by labels providing clues about the invented history of the objects, suggesting who might have owned or worn the item and on what occasion. Partridge's aim is to present her work as treasured artifacts that have become museum exhibits and which satirise the extravagance of past centuries.
