Iranian art unveiledPop art is enjoying a huge amount of attention at the moment - The Gucci Group has sponsored a Pop Art exhibition and Tom Ford is a former friend and collector of Warhol - but this summer a new exhibition will highlight the achievements of Iranian Contemporary Art. Tehran's Museum of Contemporary Art was founded in 1977 and following the Islamic Revolution in 1979, images of male and female nudity and even women's hair were banned. From May 4-10 check out Unveiled Lives - a week dedicated to Women in Iranian Cinema and on May 5 there's a conference on the same subject. |
