Visions of VictorianaBack in the 80s, Maggie Thatcher called for a return to Victorian values but luckily opium dens, child labour, gin palaces and clothes that cause deformities didn't return. This spring, fashion is flirting with Victoriana big time with pie crust shirts, lace blouses and corsets hitting the shops. From March 27, Channel 4 launches its new series, Victorians Uncovered and next month the V&A offers Curvaceous, a collaboration with Central Saint Martin's College looking at the influence of underwear from the era. Another V&A exhibition, The Victorian Vision, will highlight women's fashion from the period.
