Hirst's lifeThe exhibition due to coincide with the publication of Damien Hirst Pictures from the Saatchi Gallery has been postponed, but Hirst fans can still explore his life, ideas and obsessions when the book is published next month. Attributed with starting the Young British Artist movement, Hirst first came to the public's attention when Charles Saatchi exhibited his shark in formaldehyde. A decade on and Saatchi has chosen 20 major Hirst pieces from his private collection including early medicine cabinets and later work such as Hymn, the 20-foot high anatomical figure, to illustrate the book.
