Corset conspiracy

Fashion designers are regularly criticised for reviving best-forgotten trends but few fashion relics are as scary as the corset. Judging by recent collections, we're about to be beset by an epidemic of antique underwear. Current corset pushers include Arkadius, Gucci, Balenciaga and Stella McCartney for Chloé. Last week, My Fair Lady opened in London, so even more people are being exposed. If you actually want to be trussed-up, make sure you get your corset fitted properly. According to the Lord & Taylor catalogue of 1881 "a badly fitted corset destroys the effect of the most elegant toilet" as well as being a health hazard.
