Musical painting

Fashion designers - including Iceberg and John Galliano for Christian Dior - have recently been inspired by Pop Art. Unlike them who will soon be inspired by something new, Pop Art is no passing fad for artist Sigmar Polke. He has produced Pop Art style paintings since the 60s and his latest exhibition, Music of Unclear Origin, will open at the Milton Keynes Gallery on March 31. The 40 paintings which combine painted dots, precise brush drawing and splashed paint refer to historical events and particularly Germany's recent past, where Polke has lived for many years.
