Fashion and architectureArchitecture is a powerful tool in the fashion business. If designers want to pull punters into stores, the interior and the clothes need to complement each other. Martin Pawley's book, Fashion and Architecture (£20, published by Academy Editions, available from all good bookshops now), examines the relationship between the two and discusses its impact on the formulation of fashion houses' identities. The book features interviews with architects such as Jan Kaplicky of Future Systems - who created stores for Commes des Garcons in New York and Marni on Sloane Street - and also looks at the designs of Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and YSL stores. |
