Suffragette styleOn March 30 a rare collection of suffragette memorabilia will go under the hammer in London (Phillips Auction House, 101 New Bond Street, London W1 at 1pm, telephone 020 7629 6602). Una Startford Dugdale-Duval was a debutante who became a suffragette in 1908. She married fellow women's rights campaigner Victor Duval and refused to vow to obey him in their marriage service. Una spent time in prison with Emmeline Pankhurst and letters between the two will be included in the auction alongside a silk sash emblazoned 'Votes for Women' and stained with Una's blood, a Justice banner and several photographs. |
