Deadly styleAfter ten years of creating and inspiring alternative funerals, Welfare State International has commissioned artists, fashion and product designers "to produce functional objects for future funerals". Appropriately called Dead, the exhibition at The Roundhouse (Chalk Farm Road, London NW1, enquiries 01229 581 127) from March 2-10 aims "to break taboos and open up a wider debate around the issues surrounding death". Exhibits include Jessica Ogden's small pillow for a corpse, Hussein Chalayan's boat to ferry people across the mythical river Styx which people cross to reach the next world and Owen Gaster's all enveloping diamante covered shroud. All items will be for sale. |
