Rough ridersOnce again, the Wild West has influenced fashion. Fringed hems crop up in the spring/summer 2001 collections of PPQ and Tristen Webber, Balenciaga has scuffed leather and both Guvinda and Givenchy utilise gingham. Billowing skirts with pleats and nipped waists, dandy neckties, sturdy belts with buckles and pie-crust blouses are just some of the Wild West items that are hot for the approaching season. If you are going for the rootin' tootin' look, avoid mimicking Madonna's line-dancing style and seek out some vintage gear instead like this original 50s Western scene skirt (£55 from LondonWide). |
