Industry of OneWithout opportunities to work within their chosen industry, some contemporary designers choose to become an 'industry of one'. The 'Industry of One' exhibition at the Crafts Council (from February 1 until March 25) charts how a number of designers have produced functional objects either from their own workshops or in small batches via manufacturers from 1981 to the present day. Included in the exhibition are iconic objects such as Ron Arad's 'Rover Chair', Tom Dixon's 'Jacklight', Rainer Spehl's 'qoffee' cup stools and Andre Dubreuil's ornate wrought-iron chairs together with work by Mathew Hilton, Jasper Morrison and others. |
