Eternal GuevaraAlthough dead for over 30 years, 60s freedom fighter Che Guevara is still an inspiration for artists. February's cover of style mag 'Sleazenation' features artist Scott King's painting, 'Cher Guevara', a hybrid of the infamous Korda Che Guevara photograph and pop revolutionary Cher's face. And as part of the Year of the Artist events, Brit-artist Gavin Turk is currently pretending to be Che Guevara. 'The Che Guevara Story' (The New Foundry, 84-86 Great Eastern Street, London EC2, enquiries 020 7379 6932) a series of film screenings, discussions and lectures will run until January 27 and show how Che Guevara "has been used, abused and appropriated". |
