Milroy massiveArtist Lisa Milroy's most comprehensive exhibition to date will launch Tate Liverpool's 2001 programme. Milroy paints familiar and seemingly ordinary things, often devoid of any specific context. Her early paintings were often done on a white background, depicting groups of objects, such as plates, shirts, fruit, shoes, to "provide information about a range of different kinds of systems - pattern, repetition, rhythm and order". Since the 80s, Milroy has pursued different approaches - including landscapes, people and animals - and these will be shown along with her early 90s abstract work. |
