Retro fashion The photos in Mel Roberts' new book of buffed and tanned Californian boys wearing psychedelic, crotch hugging, low slung trousers look like they could be from a future Dolce & Gabbana or Gucci advertising campaign. In fact they are original photos taken by Mel nearly 30 years ago and form part of his book 'California Boys: Photographs from the 1960s and 1970s', (available to order now from FotoFactory Press, $50 plus $14.75 shipping). As well as the boys' "youthful physiques, wild hair and clothing and brazen attitudes", the book also includes shots of bodybuilders in posing straps, surfers on Californian beaches, hippies in love beads and skateboarders in teeny cut shorts as well as many photos never published before.
