Jean Paul uncoveredWhich designer regularly sends male models sashaying down his catwalks in skirts, created Madonna's infamous gold leather corset for her Blonde Ambition tour, introduced Channel 4's 'Eurotrash' with the endearing "Ello, my leetle chumz" and is now starring in a TV advertisement for a car? The man in question is of course Jean Paul Gaultier. And the cheeky Frenchman with a cult following in America, Europe and Japan is the subject of a book by journalist and fashion historian Colin McDowell, 'Jean Paul Gaultier' (published by Cassell & Co, £20, available from all good bookshops now). The book traces Jean Paul's career, which spans over two decades, and includes an insight into the man himself, his dreams, his goals and is illustrated with over 100 drawings and photos. |
