To the maxMix a dash of vitality, a splash of humour and a trace of violence and you have the recipe for a Max Vadukul photograph. According to Sting, Max "revolutionised what a photoshoot was to be, he turns it into a Dadaist performance, not only for the subject but also the photographer". Now you can see if Sting's words ring true in Max Vadukul's first book, 'MAX: Photographs by Max Vadukul' (published by Callaway Editions, £40, available at the end of November from all good bookshops) which holds 250 black and white photos. Providing a close-up look at a wide range of celebs, artists and politicians, the book includes Sting's wife, Trudie Styler naked and pregnant, advertising shots for Yohji Yamamoto (who Max has collaborated with for the past 15 years) and Missy Elliot - mobile phone to ear - taking a multi-million dollar business call with her talons gleaming. |
