Fiction fameYou don't have to spend weeks locked in a house watched by cameras 24/7 to achieve fame, you know. All you have to do is place the highest bid in the 'Immortality Auction' - and your fame will be longer lasting too. In return, a character in the next novel by a hip writer from a list - including Nick Hornby, Kathy Lette and Hanif Kureishi - will be named after you. And you never know, the book may be turned into a film. The event is co-sponsored by bol.com, where advance bids can be placed online from 13th November, before the auction on 5th December. All proceeds will go to the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture. |
