Jesus Christ SuperstarFashion is bored with Eastern Spiritualism, tired with the Occult and well over New Age. So, now it's Christianity's turn. The current revival of the Madonna circa 1986 look is partly to blame with all those giant crucifixes and 'just off to confession' black lace and fingerless gloves. Meanwhile Galliano's catwalk show, complete with a team of footballing Jesus look-alikes, has put Christianity on the fashion map. Christian Lacroix has even come up with a hooded top emblazoned with the word 'Christian' on the front for next summer. Other signs of the growing clothing-meets-Christianity trend include Dickies' December issue magazine ads that proclaim "Happy Birthday Big J", the Jesus Dress Up website, the growing popularity of US label Imitation of Christ and religious society Models for Christ. |
