Elton's togs Sir Elton John's capacity and love for shopping is legendary. So when he decides to have a wardrobe clearout, it isn't a case of filling a few bin liners, but of renting a shop and selling everything off for a good cause. From 29th November, 51 New Bond Street (London W1) will be the place to go to pick up some of Sir Elton's and his partner, David Furnish's cast offs. And with their love of designer labels, don't expect any old trash. The sale, to be opened by Sir Elton in the morning, is expected to last a week at the most or until the stock runs out. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Elton John AIDS Foundation and three years ago a similar closet clearout raised £350,000 in five days. As well as all the designer gear, an as yet undisclosed "pretty major" item belonging to Sir Elton will be auctioned.
