With its floral wallpapered rooms and long anonymous corridors, the hotel is a trashily glamorous low budget home from home for high maintenance drag queens, wannabe stars, fashion designers and visionaries who travel from around the globe to try and realise their dreams in the Big Apple. For his book 'Hotel Seventeen' (from Dewi Lewis Publishing £16.99, available from 20 November at all good bookshops), photographer Jörg Fokuhl snapped a good many of its larger than life inhabitants who reside there. As well as its unknown guests, supernova stars like Madonna, David Bowie and Woody Allen also use Hotel Seventeen for photo shoots and movie scenes.
