Open houseChristmas is fast zooming into view and thoughts will be turning to what presents to stuff into stockings. If you want to pick out a gift that's a little unusual while avoiding the scrum that tends to ensue in high street shops in the run-up to Christmas, a more leisurely alternative awaits at the winter Cockpit Arts Open Days (Cockpit Yard, Northington Street, London WC1, enquiries 020 7419 1959, from 23-26 November). Cockpit Arts is home to jewellers, designers, ceramicists and artists amongst others craftmakers and for four days their studio doors are open to welcome in the public. Highlights include contemporary jeweller Jane Adams, Alex Gore Brown's knitted dresses decorated with ceramics and Diane Jameson's wool shoppers and matching scarves. |
