Prints go popThe death of the pashmina has been heralded for yonks. But, Paul Smith, always one with an eye on the Next Big Thing, has injected the humble pashmina with some new found vim and vigour for winter by having them whipped up in Bridget Riley-style stripes. If you head to Christie's on 1 November at 2pm (85 Old Brompton Road, London SW7, enquiries 020 7321 3120) you can bid for a print in the 'Prints Go Pop' auction by the artist that was Sir Paul's probable inspiration. As well as Bridget Riley, the auction includes prints of work from some of the most influential British artists, from the 60s to the early 70s, such as David Hockney, Eduardo Paolozzi, Richard Hamilton, Peter Blake and Allen Jones. Estimates range from £200-£2,000. |
