Going undergroundAll those multi-coloured swirling, migraine-inducing patterns, that are big news this season are nothing new. Posters, featuring psychedelic patterns were used in latter half of the 60s to promote music, political issues, underground meetings and rallies. Now the Victoria and Albert Museum (Cromwell Road South Kensington, London SW7 2RL, tel: 020 7942 2000) is displaying its collection of psychedelic posters which it started amassing in 1968. These posters, often printed by underground presses, decorated many a bedsit, student dig and street wall - becoming an integral of late 1960s Britain. The exhibition runs until 7th January 2001. |
