Throwaway generationThrowaway knickers were popular in the 60s and 70s - as much for their novelty value as anything else - but do we need them today? Well, Dailys Ltd seems to think so because it's just launched Zero Panties, disposable knickers which come in packs of three for £1.25 (available from Boots). They're designed for women who travel, play sport and end up staying the night at other peoples' houses, but what about the effect on the environment? According to a Greenpeace spokesman the polypropelene they're made of will eventually degrade without releasing toxins, but will take several centuries to do so - making them not so disposable after all. |
