The late Terence Donovan is considered one of the greatest British photographers of the post-war era. The first large-scale survey of his work, 'Terence Donovan: The Photographs' (published by Little, Brown & Co, £50, available now), features previously unpublished photographs from his 30 year career. The editors of the book, David Hillman and Donovan's widow Diana, worked through an archive of more than one million negatives to select a final 200 black and white photos. The son of a lorry driver, Donovan was known for his documentation of London's cultural life from the 60s onwards as well as his fashion coverage which appeared in magazines such as 'Vogue', 'Harper's Bazaar' and the original 'Nova'.
