Jerwood jewellery

The ten nominees for the £15,000 Jerwood Prize 2000 for Jewellery have been selected and a preview of their work is on the Crafts Council's website. From 14th September to 29th October, the finalists' work will also be exhibited at the Crafts Council (44a Pentonville Road, London N1, enquiries 020 7278 7700), before touring the UK. The prize, announced on 25th September, will be given to the jeweller who is judged to have made an outstanding contribution to jewellery design. Looking for inventive use of materials and techniques, the judges selected designers who have stretched the boundaries of jewellery making and explored its potential as an art form. Finalists include Adam Paxon who experiments with ways of fixing jewellery to clothing and the body, Naomi Filmer who works closely with fashion designers and Cynthia Cousens, who explores the area between two and three dimensional work.
