Pretty deadlyItalian artist Antonio Riello makes the ultimate in politically incorrect "high fashion accessories for sophisticated ladies". In a project called 'Ladies Weapons', Antonio restyles replicas of deadly weapons into ghetto fabulous 'objets d'art'. Treading a fine line between 'fashion and trash', Antonio mixes the glamour of fashion with culture's perverse and morbid fascination with weaponry. Grenades are sprayed gold or pink (around £1,000), a Beretta pistol is trimmed with fur (around £1,500) and an M16 assault rifle is painted a viscious pink (around £2,000) - all perfect for protecting laydeez from urban fashion danger. Antonio is currently working on two new "super politically incorrect" projects. One concerns an international contemporary art event, the other a video game format artwork about social hypocrisy in the Western world. |
