Fashion in Yorkshire Leeds University this week launches a new research project to aiming to provide a cultural record of Yorkshire life through best bib and tucker since 1950. It will focus on clothes for special social occasions including the Whitsun holidays for which locals traditionally bought new outfits. "With charity shops, people don't tend to keep their clothes anymore. We want people to give us their clothes along with photos of them wearing them," says tutor David Blackmore who hopes the research will culminate in an exhibition and a book.
