Fashion designer turns artistAfter a successful run as a fashion designer in the 80s, the 90s saw Helen Storey producing art works. Now Storey has won the prestigious Sciart Award. Sponsored by the Wellcome Trust, the award encourages partnerships between scientists and artists to work creatively on projects. Storey's winning proposal, 'Women in Mind - Visualising the Invisible', a collaboration with biologist John McLachlan, will explore emotions that arise during the creative process. The exhibition will tour between 2001 and 2004 and there will also be a corresponding website. This is Storey's second Sciart Award - in 1997 she collaborated with her biologist sister Kate, to produce the acclaimed 'Primitive Streak' - a fashion collection chronicling the first 1000 hours of life. |
