Weight restrictionsRecent consultations between government Minister Tessa Jowell and young women revealed that teenage girls believe there's too much pressure to be thin. So what does Jowell, the Minister for Women, think would stem the rise of anorexia and low self-esteem amongst young women? Improved education, vocational training, career opportunities and childcare, so girls have more to aspire to than looking like Kate Moss? No. Instead, fashion folk have been invited to Downing Street in June to hear the views of young women. It's hoped that changing the image of women portrayed in the fashion media will give girls more confidence and higher self-esteem. |
