A pot of Fierce TeaIn the 80s, jeweller Simon Foxton made delicate headpieces and masks from dried fish. Fast forward to the 90s and Jaisen Yates, who also uses fish for decoration - albeit freshly caught ones. He also uses flour, mud, fire and various domestic appliances for his anarchic, disturbing 'artistic events' which have included the ritualistic burning of hoovers and bathing in mud. Hailing from the former mining town of Blyth in Northumberland, Jaisen and his mates stage these happenings to escape their boredom. Photographer Jack Webb has caught this mayhem on film and the book 'Fierce Tea' will be published next month (Dewi Lewis, £15.99). |
