The man 'Vogue' dubbed 'The Mick Jagger of Knitting' has designed the costumes for the RSC's latest production of 'As You Like It'. Textile artist Kaffe Fassett is the first living artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the V&A and the first non-theatrical designer to dress the RSC. He was taught to knit on a train by a fellow passenger and his colourful 1960s pieces have become collectors items. The costumes, which have an Elizabethan theme, are crafted using techniques from the period, but use pyschedelic colour combinations. The first scenes of the play feature monochrome costumes until the action switches to a forest - where the costumes become a riot of colour. 'As You Like It' runs from March to October in Stratford but will transfer to London. Visit the RSC website for further details.
