Murder in labelsLast year, Christian Bale was the drabbly dressed journo stalking Ewan McGregor's druggy popster in 'Velvet Goldmine'. Next month, Bale will be dressed to kill, literally, as Patrick Bateman in 'American Psycho, the film version of Bret Easton Ellis' novel which encapsulates the Greed is Good mantra of the 80s and describes in detail the period's addiction to status and labels. Bateman is the mudering yuppie on the loose in Manhattan, high on blood and fashion labels. To authenticly recreate the period, the characters wore vintage clothing -Westwood, Gaultier and Versace for downtime, Yamamoto, Kenzo and Miyake for the Wall Street killer-look.
