Selfridges wraps up From the beginning of May, art and shopping will fuse seamlessly at Selfridges in London. For five months the entire facade of the Oxford Street store will be wrapped in a 60 foot high piece of art. Conceived and created by Brit artist Sam Taylor-Wood, whose modus operandi is taking panoramic photographs, the frieze titled 'XV Seconds' will be a cultural collage of 21 popular icons. Jodie Kidd, Erin O'Connor, Alek Wek and Elton John will be among them. Sam sees Selfridges' frieze as a contemporay version of the Elgin marble frieze, currently residing in the British Museum. For her 21st century frieze, Sam has drawn on cultural references from Greek and Roman mythology and Renaissance paintings.
