Handbags can look perfectly innocent to unsuspecting passers-by whilst concealing a multitude of secrets. An exhibition at the City Gallery in Leicester will explore the modern icon that is the humble handbag. Simply called 'Handbag' it will be a blend of handbags as art together with functional and decorative pieces. Sara Crawford's 'Bag for a Day-Out' is a recepticle for treasured momentoes from a perfect day. On the freakier side is Farah Bajull's offering: a handbag with tubing linked to an inflatable headmask, perfect for urban survival. Exhibits on the less weird side will include designs by Emily Jo Gibbs, Dominic Wilson and Georgina Quinn. Visit 'Handbag' at the City Gallery, 90 Granby Street, Leicester EL1 1DJ from 14th April.
