Fab FATFAT (Fashion Architecture Taste) is a group who create architecture and art, drawing their inspiration from both popular and high culture. Their latest project, The New Civic, is three public art installations in the Kings Cross area of London. Using traditional symbols of public art more at home in civic centres - the clock, the fountain and soldier on horseback - FAT re-interprets them for a contemporary city environment. Their clock is split in half and displayed over the canopy of Kings Cross station, the fountain is made of fibre optic cables and the giant equestrian is in fact enlarged photos of a small toy. The New Civic is unveiled on 23rd February. |
