Queens to GreenwichThe Millennium Dome's first specialist day proved a resounding success. The Dome's unofficial Gay Day, organised by the London Gay Men's Chorus, drew a 20,000 strong crowd of families, grannies, lesbians and gays. It was the largest crowd since the super-size marquee opened. John Moyson, a Black Watch tartan kilted Gay Men's chorister gave some practical advice, "Prepare your day with military precision. Decide what you want to see beforehand and wear comfy boots." So enthused were one group, they became Domo's (not Homo's) for the day. John was wearing the style item of the day to be seen in - a Domosexual T-shirt. The London's Gay Mens Chorus performed Aqua's 'I'm a Barbie Girl' and 'I could've danced all night' from 'My Fair Lady', all sung in a choral style. They should become one of the attractions. Camp and kitsch? The Dome had it in spades. |
