Baby bag lady

24-year-old designer Emma Cassi has swapped the subdued French countryside for London's schizoid cityscape. "I love fashion," she says, "and right now fashion is London." She arrived with a smile and a suitcase full of miniature girly handmade bags which are all made from her grandparents' cast-offs. The delicate lace trimming on her felt bags have all come from her grandma's nightdresses and the felt itself is from one of her grandfather's old suits. "I like to use my grandparents' clothes," she says. "I will have to return to France and get some more when I run out." Emma's bags come in three sizes, little baby ones for kids, medium and large (big enough for your keys and lippy). With adhoc buttons, collaged lace and beading, each bag is individually crafted and comes lined and with a skinny ribbon attached. Cassi creations have been snapped-up by posh London shops including Frockbrokers and The Cross where they sell for around £30. For more information email Emma.
