David's signature style can be described as being inspired by "a classic, pallid English woman with borderline eccentricity". After the success of David's off-schedule show during last London Fashion Week, which was met with critical acclaim and was bought by Selfridges, his signature style will be shown in his first on-schedule catwalk show in this London Fashion Week.
The inspiration behind David's new collection is "the exploration of bagginess and volume and a vaguely 1920s reference crossed with an 80s image". His current winter collection features slouch pants, lustrous shirt dresses, halter tops and knee-length dirndl skirts in a predominantly black, white and camel palette.
Although it's David's first on-schedule show, he's an experienced hand in the fashion industry. Hailing from Hampshire, he studied at Portsmouth Art College before moving onto Manchester Metropolitan University to do his MA in fashion. After graduating in 1994 David moved to Milan where he worked for Enrica Massei for two years before moving to Marc Jacobs in New York. Then it was back to Milan with Marc Jacobs to work on the Iceberg label as well as designing for Allessandro dell'Acqua among others. After a summer stint at Thierry Mugler last year, David decided the time was right to go it alone.
With likes that include "the 1980s, irony and wit" David's new collection is certain to raise a smile as well as his profile.
