Footwear & Accessories
Never ever pack more than three pairs of shoes for a holiday. All you should need to take is a pair of very flimsy flip-flops or sandals for the beach, a pair of trainers or canvas shoes to wander around in and a pair of evening shoes for nights out. To make sure that the latter will pretty much go with everything you've got, invest in some fantastic shoes which are a fashion statement in their own right.
Accessories are obviously very useful because they can play a big part in turning a daytime outfit into an evening one. Bright and colourful corsages are ideal, along with fun and quirky costume jewellery but avoid taking beloved items that cost a fortune as for some bizarre reason it's much easier to lose things when you're on holiday.
Hats obviously serve a purpose and floppy ones - such as bucket hats and head scarves - are best because they can be packed flat. Quirky visors are also still cool but they can look a bit trashy unless you find one that really suits you.
The most stylish sunglasses this season are military chic aviators, but wrap-arounds and 50s style shades are cool too. Choose a pair that go with your face - the best ones usually match the contour of your eyebrows.
Beach bags and towels are also pretty essential but there's no need to invest in the biggest ones you can find, just something that will do the business.
