Pierre Cardin was also the first designer to put a branding system in place which ensured global fame, pots of dosh and his name and initials appearing on everything from crockery to luggage to wallets and pans, "I never think about it now. I started very young and was very successful from an early age so my name has been well known for a long time. It's just life now."
For someone who has achieved so much, created a lasting design legacy, without hesitation Pierre's "most proud achievement was being accepted into the Academie des Beaux Arts in 1992. It was like becoming part of nobility and my biggest distinction." And will PC ever call it a day? "No, there's always new projects and I've the chance to do what I want. I've made my own chances and always have had financial freedom, as well as an eye to create. I've had a rare opportunity."
