Anouk has always had an interest in fashion - her grandmother was a seamstress, her aunt worked for Pierre Cardin. And Anouk has wasted no time getting heaps of work experience at Givenchy, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Ally Capellino - and even has funding from "a top haute couture house in Paris" - although she cannot say which. Her graduate collection of eight extravagant outfits, To Be Worn Once Only, in a haute couture style uses lots of embroidery, appliques and detailing. Inspired by the collages Anouk made from the bits and pieces she collected in Japan while teaching at a Tokyo art college, she says "The collection is not necessarily inspired by Japan and has a vague 50s look." Believing clothes can change your character completely, Anouk says wearing her clothes will make you "feel like a star, proud and confident without any attitude" and her dresses are collections in their own right - no two garments use the same fabric or have a similar silhouette. To re-inforce the one-off theme, all Anouk's garments have a contractual label which states "I hereby agree to wear the outfit only once".

At McQueen, Anouk was an assistant pattern cutter and made hats and dresses for shows, "I begged McQueen for a job, I said I'd do anything, make tea even. One day they phoned and said "Get here in an hour and you can have a job", so i did. At Givenchy, I designed embroidery, made patterns and did colour research." After graduating Anouk intends "to wait and see what happens. I'd like to travel with work possibly as a designer, stylist or buyer but definitely for a well known high-fashion house."
